Usability research for B2B banking online

Brief

During 2006, Nucleus was commissioned by Standard Chartered Bank’s web team in Singapore to address customer concerns with the usability of the bank’s main corporate online banking application – straight2bank.

Solution

Nucleus undertook a programme of usability research that included in-depth accompanied browse / interviews with existing users in Hong Kong and Singapore. A detailed report covering the key usability issues and recommendations to address these was produced. We then consolidated our recommendations in a detailed set of online design guidelines to enable the in-house Standard Chartered technical team to carry out the implementation.

Results

The site won a number of industry awards for its innovative approach to online banking and best practice levels of usability. Global Finance magazine voted the revised Standard Chartered straight2bank application:

Best Corporate / Institutional Internet Bank – Trade Finance Services Asia 2008

Middle East and Africa Regional Winner – Corporate Internet Bank 2008

Best Corporate / Institutional Internet Bank – Asia Pacific 2007

Best Corporate / Institutional Internet Bank – Best Trade Finance Services 2007
